What you are about to see, you cannot see with any other diagnostic imaging tool. The major cervical ligaments that are commonly damaged from a whiplash injury are as follows:
Anterior Longitudinal Ligament

This is a demonstration of a sub-failure or stretching of an anterior longitudinal ligament. There is a retrolisthesis of C5 on C6.
Posterior Longitudinal Ligament

This is a demonstration of a sub-failure or stretching of a posterior longitudinal ligament. There is a anterolisthesis of C4 on C5.
Capsular Ligament

This is a demonstration of a sub-failure or stretching of a capsular ligament. There is facet gapping of C6 - C7.
Interspinous Ligament

This is a demonstration of a sub-failure or stretching of an interspinous ligament. There is an increased separation of the spinous processes at C4-C5 and C5-C6.
Transverse Ligament

This is a demonstration of a sub-failure or stretching of a transverse ligament. There is an anterior translation of C1 on C2 creating an increase in the atlanto-dental interspace (ADI).
Alar Ligament

Accessory Ligament
